My found rose
Comments (40)Interesting update! I had stated above that my rose didn't change color in the fall. Surprise, it does! Previously I had looked at a pic from last October which is our peak leaf season and my rose had green leaves at the time. This is what it looks like today, decidedly colorful, while every other rose in my garden is still quite green. Belmont, if you're reading, you had asked for a piece of this rose and sent me a nice message, but I'm pretty sure GW isn't allowing me to respond. If you (or anyone else) would like me to share, pls send a message that includes a regular email address so we can correspond off GW's system....See Morerose identification help
Comments (9)Sorry, I meant to type suckers, but it came out runners. I have a few that are about 6 feet from the original plant.... I cut them, pull them, yank them, swear at them, all the time because they always pop up where they are not wanted (like in the lawn) Any that I have given out have come with a warning--- give it plenty of space, watch out for the thorns and unless you want to have suckers everywhere, collar it. I wish I could get it to give me repeat blooms---- but I will take the shade tolerance instead. I think they must be Alba's--- and if they aren't they are giving a pretty good imitation of one. I found three more growing behind my garage today. I should have kept count of how many I've dug out of there, but I'd be willing to bet its about 15. I suspect they are suckers from the original that was probably thrown back there when it was dug up. thanks for all your help....See MoreCan you help me with some moss identification?
Comments (2)Hi, I am in zone 7 and have the shaggy type all in my lawn. It looks better than the grass and weeds!! I am in the process of creating a moss garden and have transferred some, so I hope to get a better photo for identification. It is the shaggiest type I have. I have looked else where in my area, and this exact type has, so far, been only in my lawn! Milkweed aka.. Lee...See MoreOld House Rose: Gorgeous Moss ID anyone?
Comments (67)Thank you so much for the research, comparative descriptions and photos, Anita! The Sacramento Moss sure sounds like and looks like my Moss in so many details. I'm certainly feeling like Laneii is a solid tentative ID. I wonder how many versions of Laneii are in commerce? My Moss (you can see that in my mind, I've already embraced it as my own) will probably be out of bloom when I visit Paul's garden next weekend, but if his Laneii is in bloom, maybe we can give it a close examination, and I can take some photos for comparison. (My photos will look nothing like Paul's professional quality images, so no one get your hopes up). Again, much thanks, Anita! Stay tuned for more to come in the second chapter of the Mystery Moss story.... Carol...See MoreMelissa Northern Italy zone 8
