Urgent glue question!!!
Comments (5)I am doing 1st and 2nd floors. Below the 1st floor is basement. I laid an 8mil vapor barrier before the basement slab was poured... overlapped, seams sealed... my basement is VERY dry. Within 1-2% moisture content reading of 1st floor. Are you saying that hardwood floors are affected by moisture from below predominantly? How much impact does moisture on the finished side of the floor have compared to from below? With the very dry basement, it seems to me that Bostik's Best with a permeability of 5.9x10-4 is going to also give ma an additional layer of protection... in addition to filling any voids and eliminating any possibility of squeaks caused by board movement from walking on it. Comments (19)"(Get what you like, not what's on trend. Less likely to look "dated" in five years...and if it is, who cares?)" Well said. Thanks for all the ideas. The tight grain of the maple, the perfect color match (a grey/taupe that blends perfectly with my dogs fur and my decor) and very fair price for a 3/4" solid maple makes it a no brainer in my opinion. I'm going for it. I've known the flooring guy for 30 years and he's a good guy. He's having one of his installers come on his off time for $1.50/sq.ft which I think is a good price too. So a 3/4 maple for $5.50/sq.ft installed seems very fair to me. Also the milling/quality of wood is very good imo as well. I've got tons of great decorating advice on this forum so I really appreciate all the help. I'll post pictures when its done which will be a month or so due to scheduling. Comments (454)We installed Cyril Oak through out our house a little over a year ago. Im having a terrible time keeping it clean. Dirt gets in the grain pattern which makes it look way darker than when it was new. The only way I’ve have found to clean it is scrubbing with a bleach product. I ordered some of the floor cleaner that Cortec recommended and that cleaned the floor but not the grain pattern. I’ve talked to my housekeeper about changing her pads more oven. I think they were just pushing around dirt. Im so frustrated and disappointed in these floors. They looked beautiful while they were new and after spending 4 hours on my hands and knees scrubbing them. Has anyone else had this issue? And if so what solution have you come up with? I called the Flooring retailer who also did the installation and they recommended trying the diluted bleach cleaner. UGH!...See Morewhat stain color for red oak hardwood floors
Comments (13)Thank you so much everyone with your helpful information and suggestions. I might be over thinking the color coordination because I’m seeing some good ideas being posted! I love the idea of not painting my cabinets and wondered if it would be wasted money spent. I like the white oak flooring suggested…. I originally chose red oak only because of my inexperience in flooring materials but mostly because I thought to coordinate with the red in my cabinets I’d need a floor that had some red or warmth. I really do like the picture posted by Beth… red oak with bona Nordic seal....See Moremillworkman
