Comments (4)This is my wood kitchens idea book with both new and refreshed wood kitchens. Keep your particular wood tone in mind when looking at pics, but most of these are warm toned. Many have wood floors: https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/75202366/list/wood-kitchens Natural oak works well with whites and creams as you can see in many of the pics. I have an oak kitchen and cream walls. Sage works well. Cool grays don't usually work, but warm grays - which often have a green or beige under tone can work well or very light gray/whites. In my home I have a traditional natural oak floor. It is not "on trend" but as it is in homes over a hundred years old and still used today - more timeless. Hickory flooring can be very pretty, but it has a lot of movement and color variations which might not work well with the oak cabinets. I refreshed my oak kitchen with new counters, apron front sink, backsplash and under cabinet lighting. I am very pleased with the results, but the under cabinet lighting was my most functional change and the one I would miss the most if taken away. I only have it between the sink and range, but it adds much needed light and brightens the kitchen....See MoreHelp with floor color!
Comments (5)I would pick a flooring that I love in the rest of the home and that I can live with in the kitchen. Test some looks on some different flooring visualizers to get some ideas of what you love, what you like and what you can live with. I just tested a couple of colors here with your photos. https://www.bruce.com/en-us/resources/floor-visualizer.html liked the warmth of this, a bit less yellow than your current color I could live with it with the current cabinets. Love the dark (harder to keep clean) with your other furnishings but am iffy about living with the kitchen until I could afford to get it done. Maybe for a year or two, but not 5-10....See MoreHelp with flooring colors
Comments (0)I am looking for opinions for the hall flooring on our lower level (midwest raised ranch). The upstairs level is character white oak with a natural finish. Knot holes are filled with black. The stairs are white oak with natural finish, no black filled knot holes. When coming down the stairs, you can see the floor in the hall, bathroom, family room and the guest bedroom. I would like to keep it cohesive. I am thinking lvt because it is our main entry off of the garage and a high traffic area; also includes a laundry/utility room and bathroom, so the potential for water leaks. My questions are: What color would look best? Dark charcoal? Medium gray? Or a lvt that matches the white oak upstairs? (I’m worried if I try to match the upstairs but with lvt it will just make it obvious that it is fake) Is it too “busy” to tile the bathroom floor with a different tile or should we keep it all the same flooring? The family room is currently carpet. Would you put the hard flooring down throughout the family room with a large area rug or keep the carpet? I don’t necessarily love carpet but i feel like it warms and softens the lower level. But maybe an area rug would do that? Thanks for your opinions!...See Moremillworkman
