Queen Palm help- what am I doing wrong?
Comments (15)So....I finally get to a big piece of info that I didn't know about. Apparently ALL our plants are on the same drip line. The landscape guy only put in one line back there when he did the wall. UGH! I had no idea about this. So, this means I can't do anything right? If I bump up the water on my palms/tropicals, I drown my roses, right? If I water the palms seperately say with a bucket or something, how much and how often? I didn't go down a full foot, but I was able to try and go down a few inches and it's pretty dry, yeah. About the Philo, yeah, all the tropicals minus the palms went in March/April-ish. The philo was really doing good and now it's just become so hot. I am trying so hard to find out what to do. I am upset w/the nursery we purchased all our stuff from because they're not calling back at all to help w/advice. The bird of paradise and our canna are doing amazing. Everythign else I am trying so hard to figure out what to do so I can save them. This heat sure is not helping me either. --Terra...See MoreI am so impatient! (and newbie update)
Comments (10)smalltowngal I too did not see many worms at the top. Just a few hiding in the cardboard covers I add on the top. I wanted to dump to make sure I was not killing them or any had died. I added food through the bin. I had lots of seed starting mix/soil I dumped in and the whole bin was full. I wanted to try to add some microbes to the bottom half since it may have mostly been soil and paper. I thought that might give me rich castings down there someday. I am very new so anything i do is an experiment. I only added cantelope rinds at the bottom and middle of the bin. Just a few also. From now on I will continue adding just to the top of the bin. Since I now know they are laying cocoons I may start a rubbermaid bin or another flow through eventually. I am stocking lots of scraps in the freezer and want to eventually be able to add more scraps to the bins. I also have mine in my cooler basement so things may be moving slower. I am really glad I dumped it all. I was worried since I had so much soil they may not be happy. I was wrong they were spread out all through the FT bin. It was so much fun and I got used to handling the worms! I had a large plastic storage bucket thing. I dumped and rolled the material around so I could peek at all the worms. Next I added back in and layered with shredded wet newspaper and a little rotten food here and there. (I added it in small amounts so it would not heat up) On top I added a small sprinkle of oatmeal on one corner and the food that was on top. then cover with shredded news paper and then my wet cardboard pieces. there are a few worms already in the cardboard. they love it wet and slimy from the glue :) I hope my newbie observations and ideas help. If anyone sees somehting I did that could kill my worms please let me know. I am here to learn!!...See MoreOT I AM Back an update....on everything and Brian
Comments (13)Welcome back and congrats on the smoke free status. You're just brilliant missus (as we say in Dublin!!). Fair play to you (as we also say in Dublin!!). That's it now, you've fought the battle and you've won. Just be on your guard always for those weak moments and have a plan in place for the moments when you may be tempted. Comments (11)I support DA's attitude...for the most part. If I upgrade a driver, I do it myself from the device management page and only then if I'm having problems with the particular piece of equipment/device. I, too, was offered the Intel driver you're mentioning a few days ago and I ducked it. A review of all of my Intel products did not suggest an upgrade to any of their drivers was necessary. That was enough to convince me that I didn't need it. Just a personal thought...I think we Win 7 - 8 owners are going to see a lot of these type of updates offered now that Win 10 is out there and being installed for free on current Win 7 - 8 systems. I think it's MS's way of upgrading Win 7 - 8 systems to accept the new demands that Win 10 will make on it. I'm being very cautious about what updates/upgrades I install these days....reading all the documentation/facts that come with the proposed upgrade/update....See MoreKswl
