Engineered Hardwood Flooring Choice
Comments (7)You have to take online reviews with a grain of salt. People who are satisfied are less likely to take the time to post a review than people who are dissatisfied. Can you tell whether the people who are dissatisfied are that way because of the product, or the installation? The manufacturer can't be held responsible for the installation. Every product is going to have some negative reviews. Look for ones that seem coherent and give good descriptions of the issues to try to discover where the problem actually is. It's very time consuming to figure this stuff out....See MoreNeed advice about my engineered hardwood floors
Comments (6)They did all the appropriate floor prep. Old glue was removed, cement slab was grinder smooth. They checked for level and said my floor was the most flat and level they had ever seen! (A tile installer in another room said the same thing). They didn’t need to add any self leveler compound anywhere, which they said they sometimes do. I believe they did a moisture test, no moisture barrier is installed because where I am engineered wood is glued straight to the slab. Not sure the type of glue but they said it’s the best (yellow stuff), not sure about changing the trowels. Good to know about changing them. But, I have hollow spots in the first rows they laid. They are telling me a possible reason is because these were thicker and wider boards which make it harder to make good contact…I am considering contacting the manufacturer, but don’t want to make a mess of my floors if there will be no benefit for me (compensation, redoing my floors, etc) but not sure they would do anything for my benefit…...See MoreCalifornia Classics Mediterranean 9.5 - anyone installed or have pics?
Comments (3)I agree with @Patricia Colwell's advice above. In addition, the Montrieux pictured in your OP would be a huge No due to its gray tones. Those gray tones make it very difficult to find furniture, upholstery, window treatments that go with it. And that faux driftwood look washes out the entire room. That's why that photo has all the bright green wall in the back. Take your hand and cover that green in the photo, and now see how drab the space becomes due to the floor. Also, gray is a trend that has come and gone, if you care about that....See MoreBest quality engineered hardwood brands?
Comments (29)fyi- there is a close by me that sells Mirage and Lauzon. will be checking them out. I was able to find a post on LM flooring on HOUZZ discussion forums. And copied below from this site, posted few years ago about LM flooring. Our local mom pop store recommended them as well! They have really great colors. The one we liked is Cashmere 7 1/2 in White Oak Engineered Hardwood # KAG2102FBRLS2 7 1/2 in Wide x 1/2 in Thick "M BOriginal Author 3 years agoHmm...not I’m Canada. Where is LM flooring? Like Save M BOriginal Author 3 years ago@HU. Found it. Thank you for sharing. Wasn’t able to find mill layer or the Collection you installed. Maybe Collections are offered by region. Like Save HU-161159613 3 years agoLM is the brand. I live in Texas also. I bought mine at a local floor shop. I have them in the kitchen, living area, halls, and utility room with no problems so far. We also have a dog. They're 3/4" thickness with aluminum oxide finish. LM has a lot to choose from as far as plank size and finishes. Look up LM Flooring. They have good reviews and also a good warranty. I have a great floor guy and he said they were good quality floors. I've also had other engineered hardwood floors that peeled like a layer of plastic when they scratched like you said above."...See MoreMittens Cat
